European Center for Not-for-Profit Law - ECNL

ECNL, a Hungarian public benefit organization, strengthens the legal environment for civil society in Europe by developing expertise and building capacity on legal issues affecting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and public participation. ECNL convenes key stakeholders, facilitates cross-sectoral and cross-border dialogue, and provides professional assistance on legal issues affecting civil society. ECNL’s methodology of work emphasizes public participation, transparency, and local ownership. ECNL has 5 full-time staff dedicated to civil society law reform and promoting law reform by developing the capacity of local organizations. ECNL works closely with a thriving network of CSO practitioners and government officials throughout CEE. It also works closely with the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) and benefits from ICNL’s global network of civil society expertise.  

As part of CSSP, ECNL seeks to improve the legal framework for financial sustainability of CSOs in Macedonia. It provides technical assistance to support the drafting and implementation of the CSO legal reform to ensure that it is implemented in a harmonized, fair and progressive manner. It also provides technical assistance relating to the taxation treatment of CSOs.

KONEKT

KONEKT is a Macedonian nongovernmental organization established in June 2008 to encourage private giving and community investments for long-term development of Macedonia. It has extensive experience in civil society development, promoting philanthropy and public participation. Konekt is a member of the UNDP Global Compact Network in Macedonia and a consultative member of the national CSR Coordinative Body.

Konekt is an implementing partner of ISC for the development of successful models of philanthropic giving.  It will directly support NGOs to pursue three philanthropy models (corporate giving, individual giving and a community foundation) and will provide technical assistance to CSSP NGOs on local resource mobilization.  Konekt will work directly with corporate and individual donors and will develop a core set of philanthropy support services to help donors give more consistently and strategically.

Macedonian Institute for Media - MIM

MIM is a lead implementing partner of ISC for all media-related activities. Founded in 2001 by Macedonian Press Center, the Danish School of Journalism and IREX ProMedia-Macedonia, the MIM is a nonprofit membership institution supporting the professionalization of the media in Macedonia through specialized training of journalists and media professionals. Membership to MIM is available for all registered media members and media that fulfill membership criteria as listed in MIM’s statute. To date, MIM has 86 individual and media organization members from around Macedonia, including professional associations of journalists and nongovernmental media organizations. Each member is represented in MIM’s highest governing/management body, the Beneficiaries' Assembly. MIM is also member of several networks that are focused on increasing the professional skills and ethical standards of journalists at the regional level, including the South East European Network for Professionalization of the Media, the South East Europe Media Organization, and Reporting Diversity Network (MDI).


Throughout the life of CSSP, MIM will provide training to program partners on message development, public relations, and working effectively with the media.  In addition to core trainings in message development, MIM will provide individualized follow-up training and assistance to organizations to ensure that organizational systems and practices are put into place. MIM has also announced a new annual journalism award to recognize the best media outlet coverage of civil society. The organization has 7 staff members on full-time basis and a pool of 20 permanent trainers.
